Innovation Grants - COABE Edition

The National Literacy Directory knows firsthand the opportunities you provide and the challenges you face as you work tirelessly to make real and lasting change happen for your students, your families, and your communities.

Our goal this year is to seek innovative ways to expand the Directory's reach for students, practitioners, programs, and communities while continuing to celebrate and share the effective strategies being employed by Directory organizations.

We also know that creating a more literate and educated society cannot be achieved by organizations working in silos but by pooling our collective strengths and learning from the experts in our fields. That's why the latest opportunity in the Directory's Innovation Grant series will send a representative from two organizations to our affiliate partner Coalition on Adult Basic Education's (COABE) annual conference at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, Florida, on April 2-5, 2017. This grant will include registration costs and a $1,000 travel stipend. Look for additional opportunities to attend affiliate conferences throughout the year.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible, the COABE conference attendee must represent a Directory program with an up-to-date member profile and will have made at least three updates to your current listing, including but not limited to social media listings, pictures, success stories, and contact information. Grant applications will also be open to organizations* that complete a Directory profile by the February 28 deadline. Additionally, applicants must agree to write one blog post (300-500 words) highlighting lessons learned, new resources, or programmatic strategies gleaned from the COABE conference.

*IMPORTANT*
Listings that are only High School Equivalency (HSE) test centers are not eligible for this series of grants. If your program is both an official HSE testing center and one that provides educational services, you are eligible for these grants. You will just need to ensure your program that offers educational services is listed in the Directory. It will be the case there will be 2 listings for your program - one is the official HSE listing, which is auto-updated and maintained by the NLD staff, and the other will be the listing that provides educational services.
